Join The Night Writer Society on April 5, from 7:30 to 9:00 PM for a scentsational evening workshop of writing inspired by scent. This is not your grandma’s scent workshop: perfumer Yosh Han and travel and food writer Alison Bing will reactivate taste and smell in modern writing, ridding you of olfactory clichés and re-teaching you how to write with the senses. Plus, Almanac Beer, our series beer sponsor, will provide some delicious beer to enjoy during the event!

About our guests:
YOSH HAN: San Francisco based perfumer Yosh Han specializes in vibrational perfumery. Using the finest ingredients from all over the world, each fragrance resonates with principles of chakra energy and numerology. Her eponymous collection is dedicated to creating a full wardrobe of perfumes–fragrant accessories for inner radiance. These can be found at exclusive retailers like Barneys New York, Lucky Scent, Saks Fifth Avenue Dubai, Isetan Tokyo, and other haute perfumeries.
In the intimate setting of her home studio, she offers workshops and bespoke perfumery for private clients and designs aromatic concepts for event-based productions and other artistic companies. She consults for creative agencies on olfactory trends and perfume culture.
ALISON BING: Alison Bing is a roving food and wine writer, a regular contributor to Cooking Light and the author of over twenty-five guidebooks for Lonely Planet/BBC Worldwide, including top-selling guides to foodie destinations. Besides launching four successful guidebook series for Lonely Planet as an author and publishing consultant, she has also developed foodie iPhone apps, created the content voice for custom publisher Blurb’s Webby-winning website, and consulted on content development for major cross-platform media brands, including BBC, PBS, NBC, National Geographic, Univision, the Sundance Institute and American Documentary Inc. Her previous publishing credits include art and how-to books for Chronicle Books and Barnes & Noble titles on writing, popular science, and the Words of Wisdom series, as well as four years of weekly arts columns for San Francisco Chronicle‘s online edition, SFGate.com. She covers global arts and culture for The Guardian (UK), Flash Art, Sculpture, Architectural Record and CMYK as well as NPR, PBS, ABC, NBC and other news media.
