On Tuesday, February 16, Ms. Mazzy’s eighth-grade video class gathered in the James Lick Middle School theater for the premiere of their first-semester video projects. Five groups of eighth graders have been working with 826 volunteers weekly over the course of the fall semester. They wrote, filmed, edited, and produced a short video to showcase their newly acquired skills as videographers. Munching on popcorn and candy, the students and volunteers watched in amazement as the screen filled with a monkey-themed dream sequence, a zombie invasion, an interesting take on trees, interviews on the San Francisco Giants, and, of course, video games. In such a lively and supportive environment, students and tutors alike looked forward to our next joint project coming up this winter semester!
