Halloween in the writer’s lab was a frightening success!

Happy Halloween

826 Valencia celebrated the ghoulish holiday of Halloween with fun activities for even the littlest witches and ghosts of our After-School Tutoring Program.

We transformed our pirate ship with festive decorations and spooky tunes while students turned into kittens, butterflies, and skeletons with face painting. Our wonderful tutors partook in the tradition of costuming; Edgar Allan Poe, a unicorn with a sparkly horn, and a peacock were in attendace. Student costumes included a scary jester, a kitty cat, and a mad scientist!

It was also a successful day of tutoring, as our tutors helped students tackle scary subjects such as math and science, but the real fun was to be had at the Writing Table where students wrote about their favorite Halloween experience. They went around and read their original spooky stories, riddles, and jokes to the 826 staff in exchange for some treats.
