Announcing the Leigh Lehman Fund

leigh

Dear volunteers, donors, teachers, parents and friends of 826:

As you probably know by now, Leigh Lehman has moved on to new opportunities after more than seven years with 826 Valencia—first as Programs Director, then as Development Director, and the last four as Executive Director. To honor Leigh’s service and leadership, we are delighted to announce the creation of the Leigh Lehman Fund.

This fund is the brainchild of Kim Connor, who is one of our most dedicated volunteers. Among her many contributions, Kim leads our Storytelling and Bookmaking Field Trip each week. (She was also featured in CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360 profile of 826 Valencia that aired on June 1, 2011.) Kim has made a generous donation to begin the Fund and hopes that you will contribute as well.

We know that you already give so much, in so many ways, to 826. But if you are inspired by Leigh’s leadership and are able to chip in a bit extra, we would be most grateful. We plan to surprise Leigh in early June by presenting a check in her name to 826 Valencia. All contributions from the Leigh Lehman Fund will go directly to support our free student programming, and all donations are tax deductible.

If you would like to contribute, please click on the Donations button on our home page and select the Leigh Lehman Fund, or send a check to:

Thanks to Kim for this wonderful idea, and thank you in advance for joining her in this special way to honor Leigh for her dedication to our students, for her stewardship of 826 Valencia, and for her friendship to all of us.
