On October 26 and 27, avid seniors from across San Francisco will descend on Mission High School for free college essay help at the fifth annual Great San Francisco Personal Statement Weekend. During this weekend, 826 Valencia will have trained tutors on call to give one-on-one attention to students in the process of writing their college application and scholarship essays, whether they’re just starting, almost finished, or somewhere in between. We’ll have computers on hand for easy editing as well as brain food to keep them going.
There are few feelings more rewarding than helping students with one of the most important essays of their academic lives. At last year’s event, 127 students received support from about the same number of tutors. This year, we have the capacity to serve up to 200 students. We need your help to recruit high school seniors and to volunteer as tutors! Registering for the event as a student or as a tutor is easy—just follow this link to our calendar and find the day and time slot that works for you. We’ll be offering two trainings for tutors each day to prep you for working with students. Not a volunteer yet, but interested in helping out? Email essayhelp@826valencia.org.
