The Young Authors' Book Project at Thurgood Marshall, WEDNESDAY CLASS C
(In-Schools Program)
Tutoring Student Authors of the 2014 Young Authors' Book Project
Wednesdays, 10:20 AM - 11:20 AM
January 15 - February 19
We are thrilled to announce the 2014 Young Authors' Book
Project (YABP). This year, we're partnering with Ms. Davoudi and Ms. Dal Porto's junior and senior English classes at Thurgood Marshall High School to write a collection of essays around the idea of place. Students will reflect on prompts relating to their place in the world and the physical places that are most important to them, and from these they will produce essays that examine a locale through a personal, cultural, and historical lens. The YABP is our most in-depth tutoring experience, and it's a chance for tutors to really connect with students as they transform into published authors!
Because the YABP is so rigorous for the student authors, we ask all interested tutors to commit to at least one session a week for the entire in-class portion, which will take place on Wednesdays AND Fridays from January 15-February 21. Please note that signing up here will sign you up for all of the Wednesday 10:20 AM sessions in the program, but that you must sign up for other time slots and for the Friday sessions separately. Ideally, please sign up to tutor at the same time (Class A, B, C, or any combination thereof) on both Wednesdays and Fridays to work with the same student both days.
