Perfect Portfolios

(In-Schools Program)

Dec 13,2012, 8:00 AM - 10:00 AM @ San Francisco International High School
Dear 826 Volunteers, We are about to embark on portfolios and portfolio presentations with our students at San Francisco International High School. SFIHS is a high school exclusively for English Language Learners. During this process, students are required to write a great deal in English, showcase some of the work they have done in each class, and present, in English, to a group of students, staff, and community members. Volunteers will support students in preparing their portfolios, which involves helping students organize and write portfolio essays, and listening to students rehearse presentations.  Specific help may include working with individual students to write and/or edit drafts of a personal reflection or college essay, or working with students on pronunciation and delivery as they practice their presentations. Some volunteers may also help students prepare and shoot video interviews of each other, and prepare questions to ask other students during their final presentations. As a former 826 volunteer myself, I know the incredible impact your support can have in a classroom. Thanks so much for volunteering for us! I look forward to meeting you. Best, Rachel Sadler English Teacher, 11th Grade San Francisco International High School
